Getting Behind

Our computer has been messed up for about a week, so I got a little behind on my blogging. You'll have to excuse the overload of Baccus kid cuteness.

A couple weeks ago I got the kids in the car to take Avery to school, and something didn't feel right as I was driving down the driveway. This might have been why...

That was the flattest tire I've ever seen. For some reason God didn't want Avery to go to school that day. Daniel NEVER gets home from work before we leave for school. He just happened to get home at 5:30 and was already asleep. So I took the car seats out and went to put them in Daniel's car. This happened to be the day Daniel went looking for the spare and took the key off the ring. You don't wake a man up who just worked all night, and there was no way to get Avery to school otherwise. So...we played hookey.

 

I promptly got on Pinterest and found some fun fall crafts for us to do. They made a candy corn banner out of a paper plate and a football out of a handprint.

 

Our finished product. As I was looking through the pictures I realized we never finished the footballs and I have no idea where the handprints are...whoops.

 

We also got out Avery's favorite thing to do, the Cricut, and made a cute Halloween sign.

 

We ate Halloween Oreos and made some cupcakes. Doesn't Colt look excited to ice his?

 

When Daniel woke up he put the spare tire on and got me a brand new tire. Avery helped...

 

 

I hate that she had to miss a day of school for a flat tire, but we had a fun day at home. They next day we went to Birmingham to celebrate all our September birthdays.

 

Avery loves Memaw. It was her birthday on Sunday, and she was a sprite 91 that day! Meme and Anne also had birthdays we were celebrating. Avery loves playing with Jack, too.

 

My cousin Wade and his wife had a baby a few weeks ago, and I got to meet him at the birthday party. So sweet and little. Gives me a little baby fever...

 

I made these cupcakes that I found on Pinterest. They are like dreamsicles, and they are the best cupcakes I've ever eaten. Avery actually ate hers instead of just eating the icing.

 

Avery had a project for school where she had to make a poster of her family. Daniel was the project manager, and it turned out really cute.

 

I am so proud of Avery's handwriting. She does an awesome job with her letters.

 

A big thing in our little town is the Lincoln County Fair. So many times I've asked someone where something is, and they use the fairgrounds as a marker. I still only recently noticed the fairgrounds and only because it's right next to Avery's school. Because of this we saw them setting it up the week prior, and the anticipation was almost too much! We went on Daniel's night off, and although it about broke the bank, it didn't disappoint!

 

First things first, we had to measure the kids to see what rides they could do. Colt was at the exact minimum height which meant he could ride some of them alone.

 

This was our first ride. It was a good one to begin with because it was super slow, and they could ride it alone.

 

Daniel was the brave lad who rode this one with the kids. He found out it was like the teacup ride with a steering wheel. It made me sick just watching them.

 

Then it was my turn. This airplane goes up in the air in a circle. I didn't know it would go that high. I was trying to keep my eyes focused on one thing and then I thought it was stopping. Nope, it was just going in the opposite direction. Not fun...

 

The fair had all kinds of animal shows and animals for sale. These little horses were so cute! We also saw goats, pigs, and donkeys. There was also a big track where we saw horses pulling men in carts.

 

You can't go to a fair and not get a funnel cake. By the time Daniel had gotten all our food the funnel cake wasn't hot anymore and he wasn't impressed. It was ok though, because he got Philly cheesesteak fries which were amazing! Daniel also had fun throwing popcorn in the kids' mouths.

 

 

He tried a ton of times and I just happened to get this one on video. I couldn't stop laughing.

 

After dinner it was time to ride some more rides. This was Avery's favorite. It was a mini roller coaster, and Avery was laughing the whole time. So much fun.

 

Colt wanted to ride this one. The cars go around slowly until you get to the turn, and it whips you around really hard. It was pretty funny. Every time Colt would whip around you could barely see him smile through his paci.

 

 

 

Then it was time for Avery and me to ride the Ferris wheel. It doesn't look that high until you get up there...yikes. And then we got stuck at the top for what seemed like forever. Once it got going it was fun, but it sure was high! The fair was a success, and we can't wait to go back next year!

 

And one more picture for you. As we were walking into the library the other day, Colt fell and scraped his head, elbow, and knee. So traumatic for a 2-year-old, but he picked himself up and played with the train table for the next hour.



BBQ Fun

We are finally getting into a routine and staying busy during the week. Avery absolutely hates getting up early which makes her hate school right now. I don't blame her. We haven't had to get up early in a really long time, and I know it's hard for her. She is enjoying dance, though. She comes home with new moves, and I'm excited that she's learning something new.

We are also loving our church. We were so blessed to find First Baptist, and we can't say enough about the pastor, Brother Van. He knows the Word, and he is so good at applying it to our lives. He is so powerful, and we love hearing him preach every week. Avery is learning so much in Sunday school too. She has amazing teachers and comes home almost every Sunday with scripture memorized. Here's one she learned a few weeks ago.

 

We are so proud of her! I pray she continues to memorize scripture, and that she will use it to witness as she gets older.

 

One day Avery came home from school, and I took some papers out of her folder. This was at the top of one.

Well, it's sideways, but you can see what it says. And this is one of the pictures underneath.

 

And that would be cat food. Daniel and I couldn't stop laughing. What a funny girl.

 

One of Avery's friends, Riley, is in her dance class. Her mom invited us to a community barbeque outside of Fayetteville on Saturday. We went and had a fun time. We had amazing food and even brought home our own Boston butt. It was about five thousand degrees outside, but the kids still had fun.

 

 

Apparently there's a tractor club in the community, and all the members brought their tractors to show off. We had fun looking at them all.

 

They also had these little cow seats kids could sit in and be pulled by a tractor. Colt was in the last one, and I laughed so hard at him. He bounced up and down the whole way. It was too cute.

 

 

 

 

Avery and Colt loved going down the slides. They had two of the old timey metal slides, but I think they would have fried their behinds if they went down those! Did I mention how hot it was?

 

We found a shady area and cooled off with some water.

 

Papaw came, and we had fun spending the afternoon and night with him. Avery is excited about a day off from school tomorrow, then it's back to the grind. We are looking forward to a trip to Meme's next weekend to celebrate some birthdays!
